Settlement for a man electrocuted in farming accident
Atlee Hall recently settled a case on behalf of their client who was electrocuted when his farm combine came into contact with a low hanging electrical wire.
The National Electric Safety Code governs the requirements with respect to the placement of electrical wires and electrical lines. The safety code sets forth minimum ground clearance guidelines, specifically; as in this case, when the land is zoned agricultural and it is known and expected that farm equipment will need to travel under the electrical lines.
In this case we were able to establish that the electrical lines contacted by our client violated the National Electric Safety Code and there were simpler and easier ways to raise the line and avoid this electrocution.
