Inadequate Patient Safety Policies
Jaime Jackson recently obtained an arbitration award against a local hospital who violated patient safety principles by failing to have proper fall protection protocols in place. Because of inadequate patient safety policies, our client fell fracturing her hip.
The case presented to the arbitrator involved the defendant Hospital’s failure to have adequate fall protection safety procedures and policies in place. This particular patient had a history of falls yet, this hospital violated the patient safety rule of not having a fall protection protocol in place for her and as a result she was left unattended in a hallway where she fell fracturing her hip. Often times, unfortunately, hospitals or nursing home facilities fail to have adequate patient safety procedures in place dealing with patient falls or, if they do have appropriate fall protection safety protocols and procedures in place the medical care providers may not always follow these safety policies.
